Hey look! I’m a guest blogger on Femme au foyer, who is celebrating 24 days of Baltic Christmas.
a work in progress….
Wow – these are late to the internet…. These are from October 2013.
Bethany & Alexis made these:
And I made these:
Art night had one unintentional collaborations night in 2012, and these paintings came about (albeit a year later) because I had more paintings to use up, more paint, and a couple friends who missed out on the first monsters evening. Original inspiration came from these folks.
A couple years ago I bought a little “charm pack” of batik fabrics at the large quilt expo we have in town every September. It’s taken me a while, but I finally finished a table runner with those
Then I worked on making a backing for the above piece (out of green scraps) and decided that I like this side better than the batik charm pack side, so this is now officially the front side of the table runner:
Still to do: go to the hardware store to see if I can locate materials with which to build a hanging system similar to ones I saw all the time in Japan. I’m not actually gung ho about “table runners”…..
After many years of folks complaining they can never remember where to turn in to my house, I put some reflectors up on one of the trees next to my driveway. This is a variation of the Latvian symbol for good luck (Laimes zīme):
What I didn’t realize is just how happy it makes me to drive past this. Day or night, sun or rain, this thing makes me grin. The next step is to repeat this on the other tree across the way, so that my place is easy to find from either direction.
I accidentally a hipster pumpkin.
Other art night pumpkins here. I think that there were 5 pumpkins carved that night?
Took a class this summer to learn a new technique. Here are some of the results of that class —- I’ve yet to spend much time on my own doing this at home. I guess I sort of got distracted by all the other fun things one can do in the summertime.
I have so so many ideas of what else to try with this technique that I almost don’t want to post this, just because i KNOW I can do better. Perhaps putting this up here is a way to egg myself on to DO this, not just occasionally think about it.
See art from six different artists up on the walls at Sunprint Cafe on the square in Madison, WI!
These images and more are up on the walls!
